The Charlotte East Rotary Club was organized on September 8, 1969 in Barclay's Cafeteria in the Amity Gardens Shopping Center on East Independence Boulevard.  Of the 25 prospective members that day, three (Julian Culton, Scott Ferebee, and Jim Wilson) are still active.
